Understanding Fatty Liver: Causes and Solutions

The liver is a vital organ, second in size only to the skin. Weighing approximately 6 to 7 pounds, it acts as the body’s detoxification center. Uniquely, the liver possesses the remarkable ability to regenerate, highlighting its crucial role in maintaining overall health.

This organ is responsible for over 500 different enzyme productions. It also plays a significant role in glucose control for diabetics and influences thyroid function. In essence, the liver produces over 5,000 different substances. It filters toxins from preservatives, colorings, and other harmful substances. The liver filters the body’s entire blood supply approximately every 3.5 minutes.

When diagnosed with fatty liver, it signifies that the liver is overloaded with fat. This buildup hinders its filtering capacity, leading to increased toxicity within the body. Consequently, individuals may experience heightened allergies, metabolic slowdown, and impaired thyroid function.

The primary culprit behind fatty liver is excessive consumption of refined carbohydrates. These include foods like bread, flour, pizza, sweets, ice cream, sugar, and high fructose corn syrup. These carbs lead to fat accumulation in the liver.

To combat fatty liver, weight loss is essential. Reducing refined carbohydrate intake and adopting a balanced diet are crucial steps.
